Habitat For Humanity Of Mesa County
Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County Eligibility Requirements

Habitat for Humanity of Mesa County is a Christian housing ministry, financed through private donations, that utilizes volunteers, along with family members, to build homes which are then sold at no profit and no interest to the families who could not otherwise afford a home.

Please read the following items to see if you meet the guidelines to become a Habitat Family Partner:

1. To qualify you must have housing needs.  For example:  poor heating or plumbing , leaky roof, overcrowding (three or more to a bedroom), unsafe or unsanitary conditions or special family needs;
2. A legal resident of Mesa County for at least one year;
3. Have a median steady income range between $16,965 per year (for a single-family member) and up to $46,215 per year (for a family of up to eight);
4. You must provide a letter from a mortgage company stating that you applied for a home loan, and were either denied or approved (include amount);
5. Provide a completed application that will allow us to verify your employment, income, checking and savings accounts, credit references, current and past landlords, and complete a background check;
6. If selected to be a Habitat Family Partner, you will be responsible for completing 500 hours of sweat equity.  This time will be divided between your personal time, family members, and other volunteers that will be outlined in a separate agreement;
7. If selected, you will be required to have a down payment of at least $250 and another $1,750 at the time of closing;
8. You will become the owner of a Habitat home on the condition that you meet the above requirements, are selected as a Family Partner, meet financial requirements, complete sweat equity hours, and demonstrate a true Habitat Family Partner attitude.  The home will be sold to you at cost and you will be provided with a no-interest mortgage that includes property taxes and insurance.  Your monthly payment will be approximately $400 to $650.  Costs are estimates only.  Actual expenses may vary.

If you are interested in Habitat and if you believe you may qualify for a home according to the above guidelines, we encourage you to fill out an application.  We are willing to help you fill out this application.  If you have any questions, please call between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All information is considered confidential and will be used only for our Family Selection process.

Thank you for your interest and commitment in becoming a Habitat Family Partner.
